Prior to his unjust captivity, Jose had an illustrious 35-year career as an Oil Company Executive, including serving as the CEO of Citgo Petroleum, a prominent US-based Refineries Complex and Gas Station Distribution Center.

After his release on October 1, 2022, Jose focused on reconnecting with his family and writing his memoir.
